PARIS – Karl Lagerfeld, famous for wearing accessories ranging from chunky rings to diamond brooches, is about to create his own jewelry collection.
The designer’s namesake brand has signed an exclusive multi-year licensing agreement with the Swarovski Group to produce a fashion jewelry line featuring the Austrian company’s signature crystals, the two companies said in a joint statement on Friday.
The collection is expected to go on sale in September at Swarovski Crystal Worlds outlets, Karl Lagerfeld stores, the karl.com website, and select retailers. It will be presented in preview in March on the Swarovski stand at the Baselworld watch and jewelry fair.
Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld, said the merger made sense for the brand, which has been producing watches under license with Fossil Group since 2011.
“Karl is the man of accessorization and jewelry, so it was the next natural step for us to expand our product line with a collection of costume jewelry. Swarovski, with its considerable expertise, is the perfect partner for us and we look forward to launching the first collection this fall, ”he said.
The brand will offer two main collections per year, consisting of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings, with prices ranging from 50 euros, or $ 53 at current exchange rates, to 250 euros, or $ 266.
“We are honored to partner with an iconic fashion house such as Karl Lagerfeld,” said Markus Langes-Swarovski, member of the board of Swarovski.
“Reflecting Karl Lagerfeld’s creative vision, the collection has been developed with cutting edge design cues and premium quality that perfectly complement the existing categories. We look forward to maximizing our licensing partnership together,” he added. .
The Atelier Swarovski division of the group has collaborated on capsule collections with fashion brands such as Christopher Kane, Lanvin, Maison Martin Margiela, Jean Paul Gaultier and Viktor & Rolf. Its Swarosvki Collection division, founded in 1999, has supplied over 100 million crystals in the collections of designers such as Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Anthony Vaccarello.
