An alarming crime rate

Crime is definitely on the rise here in Mzansi and citizens are increasingly concerned for their safety. @YusufAbramjee recently headed online to share a clip of another jewelry heist that recently took place.

Residents legitimately concerned

Many South Africans took to the comments section of the post to share their concerns about the alarming crime rate in the country. Many of them expressed their fears of going shopping in local malls:

@ Zamazam08096771 said:

“It’s time to shut down the jewelry stores and start selling jewelry online only. Those who really need the bling can surely search it on Google.”

@CWSAStell said:

“It seems like blatant incompetence or is there something I’m missing. Really everyone becomes a suspect. Joh. I’m still wondering who is taking the video.”

@SwaziK_za said:

“It has become so nerve-racking to go to malls lately. Such unfortunate incidents are becoming the norm. Feel bad for the people and businesses that operate phaya.”

Other frightening incidents

Brief News also reported that a gang of thieves were caught stealing from a defenseless Johannesburg man in broad daylight. The traumatic clip was first shared by Twitter user @MrHandsome_ZA, who said the incident took place in Johannesburg’s central business district.

The video begins and it is evident that a fight has broken out between a group of at least 6 men, the one wearing a white shirt being targeted by the thieves. Loud protests from taxi passengers ensued, before the assaulted man was finally released.

The culprits then walk away as if nothing had happened, ironically leaving the victim’s wallet on the sidewalk.
