Back in force! After being canceled last year, the Cannes Film Festival – and the fabulous fashion that goes with it – has made its official comeback.
And there’s absolutely no shortage of glitter and glamor descending from the iconic staircase. Everyone from Maggie Gyllenhall To Carla Bruni set off for the French Riviera decked out in designer clothes from day one.
And as the stars stormed Cannes – and couture – it became clear that fashion was going to be unmatched.
For the screening of Annette, what stars Marion Cotillard and Adam Pilot, the stars have certainly brought their A-game. The red carpet saw a slew of glitzy dresses and simple yet stunning figures.
Sparkly dresses have certainly had a moment, with a handful of celebrities – including Cotillard – stunning in shimmering sheaths.
The 45-year-old actress was a vision of Chanel, donning a metallic silver peplum dress and silver pumps. Candice swanepoel took a page from the same playbook, rocking Etro’s glitzy outfit.
Some stars stuck with the summer, appearing in white dresses. Jodie foster opted for a Givenchy number, which featured a top-to-bottom crystal appliqué.
Bella hadid was another notable star, wearing a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress with a black tulle halter neck that morphed into a flowing train.
When the stars weren’t walking the carpet in nude-colored numbers, they engaged in a pop of color.
To take Helene Mirren for example. For the opening ceremony, the 75-year-old star walked the red carpet in a bright yellow Dolce and Gabbana midi dress, which she accessorized with some serious sequins.
Kat graham also went with colorful tailoring, making a statement in an emerald green dress from Etro. As for the bling, the 31-year-old actress turned to Pomellato, who chilled her in a gorgeous choker, wrap bracelet and ring.
On the other side of the style spectrum was Jessica chastain, who stood out in a black tulle dress by Christian Dior. She paired the strapless number with a stunning statement necklace and wore her hair in a loose ponytail.
