Andrews hits another $6 billion on his credit card

Daniel Andrews’ latest hollow health promise means billions more in new taxes for Victorian households and small businesses.

In just over a fortnight, Daniel Andrews announced $9.73 billion in unfunded health pledges.

With Victoria’s debt already higher than that of New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania combined, these unfunded promises simply mean more taxes for Victorian households and small businesses.

Plus, an expected 0.5% increase in interest rates today will add another more than $1 billion to Andrews’ debt interest bill — enough to build an entire hospital.

By contrast, the Liberals and Nationals in Victoria have a clear plan to solve the health crisis without raising new taxes or adding even more debt.

We will suspend Daniel Andrews’ $35 billion Cheltenham-Box Hill rail line and prioritize every penny in health.

Of the more than $11 billion Labor has already set aside for its rail project, we have so far committed $4.567 billion for 16 new or upgraded hospitals, less than half of the funds available.

This is why only liberals and nationals can solve the health crisis, without raising taxes.
